I reinstalled Win2k onto my system and my soundblaster live has developed a low level pop and crackle that sounds like speaker interference however unplugging the speakers and changing to headphones does not change the situation. The pop and crackle is most noticable in Quake 3 and increases with volume. I have changed the PCI slot with no change and installed the latest drivers... any idea people ?

Ya it sounds like something else sharing power is causing the interfracance-like if you got a stereo in your car you can hear a buzz as the engine revs-same effect

Strange development..
Out of curiousity I reinstalled Win98 (with no other changes) and the problem disapeared, so the problem appears to be with either Win 2000 or the SoundBlaster drivers
