sorry guys... i cant get no help with the hulk and i just cant draw and workin from just my head is a bad idea on the hulk, so im gonna go with a new idea... im gonna build a LAN box... gonna build it to have a bit of a road warrior style... chances are im gonna build the case altogether however... i want to keep its small as possible yet still have room for airflow and all. a light could be neat but i dunno. any ideas at all would be appreciated. heres what i got planned so far. just a small relatively square box... shorter than it is tall, kinda like one of them ugly sideways cases... only not so big and ugly. rusty looking kinda but not to the point where its just junk hangin off it. i was thinkin i could build it out of steel and hit it with a grinder then paint it and weather it... but im afraid steel may be bad for cooling. what yall think?

i think your off to a good start. one thing i would suggest is model weathering stuff. that might give you a nice feux rust finish, also if you have a buddy with a gun or a pick axe (preferably a gun of mediuum caliber) try to get hime to shoot the side up a little. and a little work with a weilder at a machine shop might look nice. well just some ideas to get your gears goin try to be original

gosh you understimate me! i got guns. lol. shotguns, high caliber, small caliber and everything in between. also a welder... but what to do with teh welder? and whats the model weathering stuff? never seen it before.

well it would seem i did underestimate you. the weilder on the right setting can make a scar like mark on sheet metal that you can write with. also the wethering stuff you can find at most hobby stores. its basicly textured paint. and the guns...well thats self explanitory.

Hot-rodding all your holes for fans etc. would help give you that Mad Max-ish look!

As far as case dimensions and layout- as long as you get the critical dimensions right (ports and plugs) then the rest is up to you!

A short, wide box is a bit different and could be done with great cooling I would think: duct outside air straight to the cpu, and you can design fan locations for the most advantageous positions...unlike a standard pc case.

whats hot-rodding? the only hot-rodding i knwo is gettin in my z-28 and seein how quick i can turn a good set of tires into a cloud of white smoke. lol. ok so its a bit harder than that but yeah.

Edit: is advantageous a word?

lol!

Advantageous: having the most advantages; ie: the best possible

Hot- Rodding:
If you do regular stick welding- say 1/8" 6010 rod runs well at 90 amps( nice weld, etc)....turn the amps up to about 250 and see what happens! No weld, just a hole! Well, if you drag that hole around you can make some pretty nice cuts.
I've also heard it called Jet Rodding, but since Jet Rod is also a kind of welding rod, most people (around here) call weld-arc cutting Hot Rodding. Because you are Cutting with a VERY hot rod.

I used to weld for a living, and have the burns to prove it;)

ok. that makes sense. simple enough too i assume. only problem is i dont got that kinda welder. lol. it will work with any arc welder thoguh right?

yeah and a oxcetline(sp?) torch will do that too. i say get your .45 and blast away. that should make some good ventilation.

Any electric arc welding could do it in theory....but I think a wire-feeder would get messed up by doing it- tips and liners overheat too fast and get destroyed. If your metal is thin enough it might work though: just don't do to much at once.

An oxyacetylene torch could do great too: flame way too hot so you get some melting on the edges- Beautiful! (lol- some of the guys I worked with didn't know any other way!)

But hey, even if you don't have the right stuff to do it wrong (what a concept!) making a neat hole look a bit rough should be fairly easy!

And a couple gunshots will do wonders:p

Just make sure to shoot the thing BEFORE you put the mobo in:D

yeah. the first time i have to TRY to make something ugly. lol. scary. but hey, bullet holes give a mobo a great look lol.
