I had this idea for ' dressing up' my rig, I've already done all the standard stuff (window, cold cathode, etc) and want it to look just a little bit 'prettier'.. Tell me if you've tried this, if it worked, whatever..
I was thinking that I could spray down my Mobo and Cards with a nice thick coat of acrylic conformal coating, and after that i can paint them with acrylic metallic spraypaint without having to worry about the metallic particles in the paint shorting anything out. I think the extra heat created by such a thin layer of acrylic would be negligible at worst. the plan wold be to paint the Mobo metallic silver, and cards metallic blue, which i think would give a real cool reflection from the blue cold cathode. i will only be painting the backside of the cards (the side thats 'up').. I'll be testing the idea with an old POS vid card and soundcard, wouldnt want to kill my brand new stuff just yet..

Let us know how it goes! It's gonna be a b**** doing the motherboard; you'd have to avoid painting the connectors and stuff.

That would be SWEET if you used a UV spraypaint, and threw in blacklight cold cathode. ;)

That, is a very smart idea, and I'd also test them out on an old motherboard first, as well (just in case they kill the mobo somehow....).

Good luck....sounds like it would look awesome.

Sounds like it'd work.

I'd tape over the top of the CPU socket before clearcoating and painting. For the card slots, get some thick cardboard and cut it to the right shape to fill the section where the card actually sits.

definitely use masking tape all over the place. you should paint ur cables too, then everything will be sweet.
make sure to clean the board well before you paint, im sure its dirty.
