finally it's almost done...
it was hell, my dremel broke on me half way through, shoe horning everything was a challenge, I used hammer pliers u name it...
but finally it's done...
all that's left to do is a proper shroud and fan..
AND FINALLY I HAVE A SELF CONTAINED WC antec rig!!

nice job... keep us posted

Looks good man!
Hurry up and get some temp data posted on how well the setup performs!
HURRY UP!:D

my room is a furnace...
current ambient temp: 32*celsius
current case temps:40* celsius
current Cpu Temp: 41* Celsius...
here's the prototype shroud... it's cardboard and duct tape...
now I dunno what to make the final one out of.... but I know it's gonna be black :)

See? You CAN put a hugeass radiator inside a case!:D

That was fast:p
Nice performance out of that setup, man!
Cool that furnace of a room down though! Whew: I'm sweating just THINKING about it!

check out the cfm's on this bad boy... and yet my poor cpu is baking!!

Turn the fan around and make it blow on the radiator,:)

I tried that too,
my case temps go up :/

Well, just get a box fan at Wal-Mart and make it blow on the side of the case. Open a window could help, too.:)

I have tried lots of different configurations with my external radiator: fans on on side, sucking through performs best for me.
And on that setup its also a case exhaust fan:cool:
And another note: yours came out so well, I'm now thinking of how I can add a few inches to the top of my case!!!!

yeah I felt around inside, there's really no "hot pockets"
the only thing is that 1 80mm has 2 hdd's blocking it's airflow...
and the other 80mm has a huge res sitting infront of it...
but 32 celsius intake air doesn't help any...
opening windows just makes it worse cuz of solar rad.
I'm thinking of covering my window in tinfoil...
Nice setup! The temps prob rise when you turn it around because hot air rises so your blocking it back in :/

Get your A/C repaired, or you can get one of those portable A/C units.

Aluminum sheetmetal is good shroudmaking stuffs. (Color coordinates with the duct tape too :))

most elect. fans including automotive pull better then they push, keeps the fan at speed.... your setup looks pretty good. My ne w case Im designing has cool outside air routed to the rad. and drown through the other side by a shrouded fan.. testing so far looks good... have a long way to go to finish completed case though...
Id use thin sheet metal, easy to bend, and easy to paint...
my 2 cents..

i think i may have the problem solved but it will require more cutting. you problem is you are drawing warm(40+deg.) case air throught your rad. what you need to do is duct outside air through your rad. a little paint to help explain:

You should also put more intake fans in to keep fresh air coming into the case.

I think Crazy JayHawk has the closest to a solution (besides lowering ambient!) yet!
9c above ambient is not bad at all for anything besides pelts or chillers! But a case temp 8c above ambient isn't too good: average is more like 2c to 4c range.
If the intake/exhaust cfm is pretty well balanced now, you may want to add 1 each....just gotta find room for 'em!
And, since your rad is using case air for cooling, getting case temps down can't hurt there either!

tbirdman's got the idea......

and that top drive bay looks like a nice candidate for a duct. just run some aluminium sheet from the drive bay to the rad like my pic shows and put some mesh in front of the drive bay and volia! 32 deg air through your rad should keep the proc. cool

one thing i spotted in the first pic is that you have your hoses on the waterblock backwards.... you want cool water coming into the center of the block it should go like this
pump>(res)>rad>(center of the block)>(side of the block)>pump
and make sure there is no air in the tubes.. that willl really mess up your temps......

unless thats a cross flow block(which it appears to be) in which case it would not matter

I'm pretty sure the hoses are on right...
my block is the maze3... goes from the center out...

using a temp probe, the air temp in the drive bay isn't very much above ambient....
I don't know why my northbridge is roasting so much...
back in winter... it seems for every 1 degree my ambient went up, case temp went up 2 or 3...
it's exponential almost

A general rule of thumb is that if your pc runs significantly cooler case temps with the side panel off then you need better (more) case ventilation, ie: fans!
Try running that rig with the side panel off for a day and see what the temps do- my guess is that case temps drop quite a bit and you may see a reduction in cpu temp as well.

I tried that bud...
usually I'll notice the temp shift pretty quickly when panel is off...
it's been an hour so far, and temps are same...
I think all I can do is buy a wall rattler...

I'm having the same issue, pretty much: cpu is a bit higher @44c, case a bit lower @33c and I am sweating my butt off!
Wall Rattler:D Good description! Mine goes in SOON.
