I'll be getting my artic silver 3 in a couple of days and was wondering if its possible and if it would be a good idea to take out the hsf and put some as3 on it, same goes for the ramsink..
btw, whats a good liquid (achohol?) to take out the old thermal compound and clean the chips..

VERY GOOD IDEA! that should help lots. while your in there make sure everthing is flat and dosnt need to be laped. just some rubbing alcohole will do nicely. if theres any epoxy you can use nail polish remover to get rid of it.

sorry for this stupid question, but whats an epoxy?
also, since is gonna be the my first time doing it (both on cpu and gpu), should i follow the same guide on aplying it on a cpu?
last question, any safety tips? like touching metal before messing with it, or not working on a carpet, ect..

there maybe a glue(epoxy) holding on the heatsink or ramsinks. if there is you need to put the card in a plastic bag, (to avoid condesation) put it in the freezer, then pry it off carefully. if you pry against the card put a credit card in between to protect it. then to remove the glue use nail polish remover.
yes static charges would be a bad thing. you can go the whole wrist band route or just be carefull of the situation and touch the frame of your computer(its grounded through the power cord).
if you need to glue the heat sinks on use two part epoxy with some artic silver mixed in to aid heat conduction and to lessen the strenght of the glue(you might need to take the heatsink off someday). a small dab of epoxy in each corner of the gpu will be plenty. and a small dab on each end of the mem chips.
oh and yea follow the same guide lines for applying the artic silver to everything. good and thin is key
