Ok, first off, this is JUST a funny. No bashing meant against our fellow counterparts. I just thought this would be a little humor, and is only meant in that way.

Ok, on with the program :)

Step 1: Honesty
The first step in any rehab program is HONESTY. The only way you can really become free of the Seti is to believe that Folding is a much better cause. It's is of upmost importance that you be 100% honest with yourself when you believe this. This may be one of the hardest steps, but is fundamental in the conversion.

Step 2: Faith
In order for one to be converted, they must have FAITH in what it is they are begining to do. It may take a while for the trust to settle in, but once the faith has been established, there really is no better feeling than knowing the nobleness in the cause.

Step 3: Surrender
The easiest way to convert is to jump in head first. Completly removing Seti from your system, and running Folding is a gift in itself and no words can begin to describe it. As they call it, 'going cold turkey', may seem harsh at first, but can become the most rewarding deed ON EARTH ;)

Step 4: Soul Searching
One must truly look inside to know if the power within is pure. If alien code runs rampant in your system, you need to cleanse your sole. I simple strike of the delete key can get us past this stepping stone. The hardest part is looking inside to find the evil.

Step 5: Integrity
Once you have begun the conversion to Folding, you must maintain INTEGRITY. You can't cheat yourself at any time. Setting Folding to a higher priority than Seti can aid in this step. But one should not endulge himself in this practice. It is best to stay pure, it will make the recovery process easier and less tempting to be pulled back to the darkness.

Step 6: Acceptance
After the conversion has started, you must ACCEPT that what you are doing is right for you. If you realize that, "Yes, what i'm doing is right", then you are well on your way to a full conversion. Only those with full acceptance of The Fold will appreciate it's importance and experience the true happiness it brings.

Step 7: Humility
Asking for help is not as bad as once thought. You'll find the followers of The Fold to be gentle, helpful people. Very willing to aid in the conversion process. Simply asking for guidance, and a helping hand will bring much relief to ones system.

Step 8: Willingness
The willingness to be converted can be uplifting. You hold the power and choice over your system. If you trust in The Fold and have belief in it's importance, it will become easier, but you also must be willing to sacrifice the time and effort necessary to rid your system of the darkness, and bring light to your day.

Step 9: Forgiveness
Forgiving yourself for bringing the darkness into your system can be the most difficult thing to do. You will find that other Setiers that are still addicted to the darkness are more willing to banish you. Coming into the light will make forgiving yourself for all that wasted time much easier.

Step 10: Maintenance
Keeping your system in check can be the point that makes, or breaks the conversion. Many have slipt through the cracks into oblivion. Maintaining uptime, and system integrity is one of the major keys in conversion. Without maintenance, your system could crash harshly, never to return to the light again.

Step 11: Making Contact
Becoming involved in events regarding The Fold will bring one much closer to full conversion. Knowing that you can be a part of a strong team, and win free hardware can put a smile on anyones day. Recruiting other people, posting flyers, placing banner ads everywhere, leaning out the window of your apartment and shouting "FOLD FOR TEAM 32!!!" are all ways to make contact.

Step 12: Service
Once you have reached step 12, you have been fully converted. General service to your system, adding more systems, recruiting like mad salesmen, and boasting the name Team 32 are all you need to maintain your conversion. Now is the point in your life where you will appreciate full hapiness. Don't ever look back, the darkness is behind you, good things are to come. (This has also been considered by some of the more vigalent members as a method of having a system Fold silently without any chance of user Intervention. It can also be used as a covert way to have a system Fold.)

Well, that's my humour for tonight. Hope everyone enjoys this, no hard feelings meant on either side. Seti is very respectable :)

Shouldnt service be that command line tag that hides the addiction from prying interference?

Saw the thread title, had to look...

I'm really not addicted.....
I can stop any time I want! Really I can!

:p

I do not choose to however......
So me and my little farm will continue to crunch away, chipping at the team stats for a while yet.

Enjoy!

And Crunch! lol Or Fold, if you choose!

I had been on SETI sonce May of 1999. My latest stats were:

Results Received 5010
Total CPU Time 7.151 years

I removed all SETI from my systems and have converted to FaH. I've been folding off and on for some time but decided to finally go "Cold Turkey" on Seti (in the top 99.607%) last week.

I was with my mother this weekend, she has Alzheimer's...

Nuff said.
