Unlock it or not?

ok, i am still debating whether i should unlock my chip or not for serval reasons, first, my board only supports up to 166fsb max, and i am already at 150 marrk, which is not too shabby by itself. Second, with 166fsb, i am forced to be more reserved with ram timing (tried 166 with a duron). So, is it worth of me spending another 20 dollars or so to get the unlocking kit just for that 16fsb? i maean, with that my mem timing and wallet suffer, but i really don't care as long as it can make me fold faster. What do you guys say about this?

Probably not all that worth it. My Shuttle runs at 155MHz simply because that is the limit I can run my memory at most aggressive timings. At 166MHz I have to drop down to CAS2.5 and performance actually suffers when compared to aggressive timings at 155MHz.
At 150MHz I would say you're either not going to see any change or a change for the worse if you have to raise memory timings to do it.

If I could apply more voltage to the memory, I could probably keep the timings at 166MHz, but 2.7V just isn't enough.

I would recommend u keep your CPU locked, no reason for u to waste alot of time and money trying to unlock the fridging thing if you arent 100% sure that youll be able to overclock the crap out of it.
Youll get very disapointed if you finally unlock it and find out you wont get enything out of it :(

lol like my 1700+ i got um...18mhz out of it when i unlocked it!, i and on my 1600+ i could have kept it locked with better ram, but i unlocked it and maxed out at like 11x180 also done 10x190 havent really tried for too much, i can boot but not windowz with 2040mhz...
