View Full Version : Does anyone have one of these...?
I've decided that the Parhelia just isn't worth it, so I'm probably going to get a Abit Siluro 4200 (for its OC power). I want that sucker to be cool so I want an extra fan near it. And the first thing that came to my mind was, "Hey, what about those PCI slot fans?" Does anyone have one of them? They look like this...

I'm only worried about two things... do they actually work? And are they quiet. The whole point of my ordering watercooling and Vantec Stealth case fans was to make the computer quiet (although, I will have to do something about case pressure, now that I think about it). Anyways, thanks for the info.

They are fairly quiet, but it wouldnt hurt to run it at 9v if you are indeed using vantec stealth's...have two of those myself, and I love them. The only problem i can think of is a vortex between the exhaust fan and the gpu cooler on the gf4... two fans sucking for the same air could be a problem. I suggest putting it two slots away to be on the safe side of things.

Oh, I didn't think of that. Although, if the GF4 is shooting off the hot air, I think it'd be a good thing that the fan is right there to be taking it out of the case.
Those seem to have messsed up airflow in some cases..
They don't help much, you would be better off saving like 15.00 to buy better cooling upgrade on the card itself.

From what I've read, the PCI coolers aren't that great. People recommend saving those dollars and getting a case fan for a side blow hole instead. Actually, that's what I'm planning to do soon. ;)

u should look at the overclockers homepage where one of the links tell u the product to aviod. One of them is the pci cooler
Look at it.

Thanks guys... I need to minimize the difference between my air input and output anyway, so I think a side blowhole or two blowing air onto my CPU and vid. card would be better in terms of case pressure and whatnot.

Why isn't the Parhelia worth it? Any price out on it yet??

actually, the hsf on the g4f is intaking air to the gpu, so adding a pci fan next to it, in my mind, would be fairly harmless, since you'd just be cooling it off more, the exhaust case fan wouldn't be on the side of the hsf for the gf4, so it's not like the exhaust fan and the pci slot cooler would be fighting eachother.
