detecting joystick

Just got a philips sound card for the ad11 mb. Windows (98) doesn't detect it and when I choose add joystick in setting s it says not connected. What do I need to do? It's a ms 3dpro. Thanks,

How about a little info. CPU, MOBO, HSF, RAM, and VGA Card.

found a patch @ microsoft to help detect the 3dpro on new boards but it didn't work.
