I need a better 80mm fan for my AX-7 and have narrowed it down to these three.

Mechatronics: 4200 RPM, 53 CFM, 39 DBA
Sunon: 3900 RPM, 50 CFM, 40 DBA
Panaflo: 3450 RPM, 46.9 CFM, 38.2 DBA

I can't hear my 30 dba fans inside my case so I would think that these fans would produce a soft humming sound. I can deal with a hum but not a whining sound. I don't want my friends saying, "What's the deal with your noisy computer." Anybody have any experience with these fans and which one or ones is the most pleasing to the ears?

If all those fans are too loud, would a Sanyo Denki 42.4 CFM, 3400 RPM, 34 DBA be sufficent for my heatsink?

Thanks!

that sunon is a very loud fan. sure it pushes a lot of air, but geez it hurts your ears.
go the panaflo or mechatronics

Panaflos are great fans, and depending on the model, usually very quiet.

The Mechatronics seems to be the best from this three..

Not taking into account airflow, and from what I believe (no actual experiance in this area), I think that the Panaflo would be best. Quiet dB rating, and it has a low RPM which (I think) means that it will have a lower pitched sound.

They are all 80mm so I don't think there will be a big difference in pitch.

The problem is that these numbers are probably no more than factory ratings... often misleading. I'd look at the dB ratings with a grain of salt and stick to RPM/CFM measure. Lower RPM = less sound, and you'll need the CFM to determine whether it improves upon ur original fan or not.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I wasn't aware that the RPM's had something to do with pitch but that definitely helps. The Panaflo looks like the best choice so I'll go with that one.

Is this the right plug for the Panaflo? It's really cheap.
