i plan to get an athlon xp 2000+ and an hhc-001 to go along with it. i have 2 questions. 1, the weight of the copper heatsink crushing my cpu. 2, the .33 amp fan burning out my fan header circuitry...if not more. I have 2 fan headers, of which i only use one (for my heatsink's fan). should i be ok hooking the hhc-001 to my fan header? btw, i have an ecs-k7s5a.

I believe that hsf has a 60mm Delta type fan on it (if not a true delta) - fans that draw that much power are not good to hook up to the mb header. If your lucky when you hook it up, it'll only fry the header itself. If your not lucky, then it could fry the mb itself. Use a 3 to 4 pin adapter to hook it directly in to your PSU, then you won't have to worry about frying anything with the fan...

I it is a true 60mm Delta 6800RPM fan, it is rated at .4-.46 A.
Most MOBO fan headers will handle up to .5A. I had a True 7000rpm Delta on my fan header for a year. No problems.
Finally got tired of the WHINE and got a AX-7 w/50cfm 80mm fan. AAH, blissful quiet.

so if you use the 4 pin adapter how do you use the rpm monitor?
that's the only reason i didn't go to the 4 pin yet.

You can jury rig a 3 pin connector that only has the rpm monitoring wire on it and connect that to your mb header, then connect the actual power wires to a molex...
