Hi,

I found this computer in the garbage. It has processor "6x86L PR200+" at 180MHz. It has a small passivly cooled black heatsink. When I touch it it is very hot, so hot that I can keep my finger on it only for 2 seconds. Is this normal for this processor?

I would think that an 60mm fan would be good for that... does it work?

adding a fan doesn't really matter since they are supposed to run HOT.(oh yeah, and you'll be better off nicking a p200mmx cpu from your aunts backyard)

edit: and oh yeah, you should check if it's getting the right voltage, it might very well be made to be run lower than normal pentiums.

and is it an oem-box? and you have it open? some cases rely on air movement by the psu fan(+possible intake fan) to also draw air through the cpu heatsink, obviously this doesn't happen with the case open)
