Are all usernames on F@H unique? What prevents someone from hijacking my username?

e.g., I fold under the name of "esit." What happens some other guy wanted "esit" and uses it? And say he puts up big numbers at Standford. Now the stats under "esit" no longer reflects what I did and it'll seem like I'm trying to tag onto someone else's username.

If someone used your name, they'd probably use it under a different team. So there would be two team listings under you stats.

If someone wanted to fold under "esit" for team 32 there is nothing you can do about it. But I really wont see a problem in that since the other person will be boosting your stats. No one really owns his folding name or has any right to it, as anyone can fold under whichever name he or she choices.

yea but what if someone wanted to use username wedo would that be OK.

Uh... that would be Wedo, not wedo, and by all means use my name at your leisure!!!! :D

well with all the different teams there are bound to be dulicates in different teams. If the name is in a different team that's not a problem cause the points will not be added to your count. But if it's the same team then both people will contribute to the same name.

of course someone can use anytime they choose. but this post right here tells us that you had it first;) (i know you don't own it, buy you did pick it first). if you notice an increase in your point production or active procs them obviously someone is "helping you out" . if you want them to stop then you could make a thread about it or just let it go- that is about your only two choices :)

... erhm ... I don't think it works that way. :rolleyes:

For instance ... check out Stanman's stats - he's folded for a BUNCH of different teams, but it's all HIS stats. If someone from another team was to use your name, it'd contribute to your personal stats, but not team 32's stats.

Well, except for the fertilizer that pretty much sums it up ;)
Although it does show the differences on the detailed pages for each team.
