I've been thinking of replacing all my normal IDE cables with rounded cables. Since from time to time I open my case, anything with changing this and that, the cables are a big mess there.

I would like to know whether is there any disadvantages for using rounded cables? They all come in ATA 33/66/100/133 right?

Is there any speed differences between the regular and rounded cables?

no disadvantages, as long as you get good ones up to 18inch long.

otto is right-- anything longer is not in spec. plus- you will get better airflow throughout your case, so in fact, they give an advantage!!

Another added bonus, they look way cool.
I put them in all the systems I build. It only adds $20 to a build. Built 12 or more and the clients think it looks organized.

Go here for cables, all you want $5.00 shipping.

I thought that round cables where a bit more prone to have errors because all the wires were closer together?

Is there a problem with the 24"? Attenuation?

Are the Coolermaster cables any good?

Yes, I would like to know about the length issue too. I read that 18" is the cable we should get. Anything below or above should be avoided. Why? Also, is this the same for floppy cables? I saw some 10" single-device floppy cables, but I'm not too sure whether those are recommended or not.

they should be good.
take a look at here (http://www.dansdata.com/rcables.htm) for the length issue and here (http://www.pcpowerzone.co.uk/reviews.php?id=99) for a short review on the CM cables.
also, here (http://www.coolermaster.com.hk/en/products/cable/ptc-a18.html) at the CM website there r a few other links to review on internet. you can click Back for other cable models.
