Well like its sasy above how much can u OC a Slot Pentium III 500Mhz? Running and Intel Mobo i got no idea on any think in detail on the mobo cos i was give for free:D
Most peaple do not get a very high OC with a 500. Which core is it? If it is the older Katmai core is probably wont go over 600, the newer cores went a little higher. What OC'ing options do you have on your mobo? If you can OC through the bios then just up it a little at a time and see how high it will go. Make sure that you have plenty of ventilation and watch your temperatures. If you start getting into the mid 40's and higher back it off a bit.
doesnt matter the chip. U said intel board right? well i dont think u can change the value in bios to OC it and i think there is no jumpers either. so its basically run on stock speed board. I'm in the same boat. I got this 1.7ghz p4 socket 423 and a intel board with RDRAM for free. I cant OC it, but im not complaining it was free. well there is 1 way, buy a turbo pll. u can do the search on google and u will find it. but i dont recommend it, i think its more of a hassel then its worth. u must solder on ur board too, and thats something im not going to do for even 300mhz... give me 500mhz and more and i may consider it.

You may be able to use SoftFSB or CPUFSB or one of the software based overclocking programs to change the FSB.
Download the program onto your PC. Look at the PLL chip on your mobo (this is what creates the clock frequencies, it is usually small with many legs(pins)). Run the program and look for you chip in the lists from the different manufacturers. Some companies have been bought over, so check all the makers.
If it is there, see what the highest FSB is that it allows you to change it to. Sometimes a version close enough to the one you have will work if your one isn't in the list.
If you increase the FSB by much, you will need the increase the CPU core voltage to keep it stable. This will increase the heat output of the CPU so you will need better cooling.
Other then that, become an electronics person and solder a new clock generator crystal to the board. Cheaper then a Turbo PLL, but creates a few more problems.

software FSB increaser? hum... didnt know about that one. i'll look into it and see if it works.
