w2k boot error

hey all, i just atarted getting this error

inaccessable_boot_device

it's a blue screen that happens right as the colorful "starting windows 2000" comes up

i have tried booting to all safe modes, command prompt. also tried the emergency repair and i cant seem to fix it.

if anyone had any knoledge to share PLEASE let me know

*Edit:* also have tried last known good configuration.

go into your command console (accessable off of your win2k install CD by booting off of it, or w/ your floppies) and type the following:

Fixboot
Fixmbr
Exit

That should help you. What I think you've done is hosed your bootrecord. Those commands will write you a new one.

You shouldn't, once you fix the MBR, everything should be fine.
I ran into a similar situation once, and after trying everything, I was fianlly able to fix it with a repair install. So if Oni's tip doesn't work, don't give up, you can still do a repair install.
