Do video cards and/or motherboards have heat protection for the gpu? You can set cpu tempereture at which your motherboard will shut down to avoid killing it. On alot its set by default right? or is that in the cpu? Do motherboards do that for gpu's as well? Or is there something like that on the video card/gpu that shuts down the system if the temperatures get unsafe?
 
I know my 6800 ultra has an automatic shut-off. Ati tool can give you a warning if it gets too high.
 
thats good to know. I am tempted to make an my own relay, somehow I cant bring myself to trust the system on the cpu and even less on the card. But thats good to know.
