I'm trying to setup a raid 0 array on my p4pe and the mobo requires that at least one hdd must connect to one of the sata connectors on the mobo. Now, both my hdd's are ata133 so I need to buy a converter. The problem is, I don't know if there are any difference between the different converters you can buy. Are some better than others? Newegg has 3 different ones that are all the same exact price, 24.99 + $5 shipping.
Help me choose one:

If you want to see the list on the newegg page, type sata converter in the newegg search thingy.

I'd say there isn't a whole lot of difference in the three performance-wise.

I'd probably go for one of the latter two as they come with molex adapters. I like the looks of the Highpoint the most, but not many PSUs come with 3-4 floppy-type molex connectors.

Do you really want to hook up your hard drive to your SATA controller or do you have to? I've heard that people had bad luck using converters, but then again this is not coming from personal experience. IMO its best not to use adapters for hds since you risk corruption and a slow down in speed. If I had to choose though I would probably go with the highpoint adapter.

I use the SATA adaptor on my Abit Nf7-S...I have no problem as long as I am not trying to install an OS while there is another HDD conencted using conventional IDE. Win2k and WinXp will not install on the SATA. >_<

I use serail ata raid...it is 20% faster using converters on 2 mb maxtors than 8mb wd's on normnal raid..

is a pain i9n the arse when you have a corrupted windows system file but if you stick another hard drive on the ide channel and chkdsk your raid from there you are sorted...

abit serial ata converters all the way

hehehe

will be faster still...hehehehe

i just got the 2mb cos they are cheap as chips and they are wicked drives

Hey Thaibog, what can you say about yours... Beside the 6mb more buffer, the sustained transfer rate are the same aren´t???
