alright, i plan to run an Intel P4 660 Engineering Sample on an Asus P5WD2 Premium, and can get both sets of ram at around the same price, and i'm wondering which set would be better for both overclocking and for benchmarking

OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth:

OR

OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold:

TIA

ps: i'm wondering this because i'm kinda confused about bandwidth vs latencies as far as the intel goes

Personally I would get the 5400EB. It has lower timings than the 6400EB and gold. It should also overclock to pc2 6400 speeds assuming your CPU and motherboard can take the memory that far :)

but you can lower the timings when running the faster ram at a lower speed, correct?

and i was also probably going to use a divider so that the ram runs faster than the CPU...

Not always true, really depends on if the RAM was designed for the lower timings or not. Some memory just doesnt do the CL2, even though its DDR500 and you're running it at 200/400MHz.

AFAIK all of the DDR2 EB stuff is using the same IC's. Since we speed bin the IC's the higher ones may not do lower timings since they are not tested for that...rather for high speeds and slightly looser timings. The 5400 should do everything you need a more. With looser timings it will run like the 6400
