Is this just a downclocked 3870? I don't see much info on it... And it's a little deceiving when you think of how ATI's naming convention works... usually an "XT" added to the name means something better, but from googling I think it's a downclocked card.

How come there's no much info on it? I believe it's released overseas, but not in the states.

google it... there seems to be barely any info on it, but it's there!!

i found this:
http://www.fuzing.com/vli/002981b98337/ATI-3870XT-VGA-card

i also found a guy selling them on XS here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=176643

1st i heard of it was just before i posted this thread.

wierd, though while the store link url has XT in it, under the card name it says 3870PRO which would seem to me its a normal 3870, and not an XT.

I cant view the XSs link to look at the guys card.

that's b/c it's in XS's classifieds... you have to be a member and you have to have privileges to view it. sry about that.

just google 3870xt. you will see some other forums and overseas stuff about it.

ATi has dumped the Pro/XT etc procedure AFAIK now it's just pre-overclocked cards....

pre-overclocked...?

all i know of the 3000 radeon higher-end series is:

3850
3870
3870x2

right?

some company may be trying to make money off of slapping xt on it but as far as i last heard xt/pro badging is dead. think of 3850 as pro and 3870 as xt. but its all numbers now. and the x2 in the 3870x2 just means 2 gpu's

The "x2" I understand... makes perfect sense.

So I guess a 3870XT is a 3870, eh? Still misleading when you take a look at this link:

...as they call it a 3870pro...

well now im confused...

Fully distributed design with 512-bit internal ring bus for memory reads and writes

but then again how trustworthy is that site? did somebody remake the card with an extra layer?

the 3870 does have a 512-bit ring bus. its a 256-bit card with ring bus memory interface design making a 512-bit ring bus. 256-bit each way.

ah that makes sense. ok so basically the stats up and down are the same because there is no xt and the company didn't get the "memo" x.O
