I think (hope) I'm ready to build my first PC, and it will be used for gaming, nothing else. I won't even be going online with it - just using it for PC games. The components will be mostly new so I won't be loading on top of any other operating system, it'll be a new install.
My question is, what operating system should I use? I have access to Win 2000 Pro that I'm getting really tempted to use especially when I read so much about the XP problems.
I'm far from a computer whiz - in fact I was getting ready to buy a store bought system from Dell or Gateway when I stumbled onto this site (which totally changed my mindset by the way, thank you ever so much), so I seriously doubt I could handle Linux or the more advanced operating systems. I need something elementary for now.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate your advice and experience.
Thanks...
Steve
P.S. - YES, I've read all the threads and the OS poll... This question is approaching the issue from a new install/new system build standpoint rather than an upgrade, for a system used ONLY for gaming AND from the perspective of a non computer guru who couldn't tweak his way out of a wet paper bag.
