If I remove a second operating system from a hard drive on my macine how do I remove the "choose the OS" option screen that comes up when my machine boots?

I completely removed the hard drive containing Linux from my system but the "choose the OS" screen comes up when I start the machine. I cant seem to find any file in Win XP that contains the dual boot info. Help!

From the Microsoft help database

Specifying the Default Operating System for Startup
If you have more than one operating system on your computer, you can set the operating system that you want to use as the default one for when you start your computer:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
Under System startup, in the Default operating system list, click the operating system that you want to start when you turn on or restart your computer.
Select the Display list of operating systems for check box, and then type the number of seconds for which you want the list displayed before the default operating system starts automatically.

To manually edit the boot options file, click Edit. Microsoft strongly recommends that you do not modify the boot options file (Boot.ini), because doing so may render your computer unusable.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for you reply!

:)

That did not get rid of the "Option' Screen however.

Help (again) ;)

Strange.

If Xp was responsible for the dual boot menu you are getting then that should have got rid of it.

By any chance are you using some other program to manage multiple OS's?

No. I am running Win XP and Mandrake 8.1 no third party software to manage the OS's or the way they boot.

What is strage is when I do what you say with regards to start/ settings/ cotroll panel etc...

Win XP is the only OS that I see in the drop down. Linux does not show up.
