Keyboard with Lcd

Hello,

I have a small serial keyboard with built in lcd.
It seems to be rs232 compliant in that i can write to the lcd from the serial port and read input from the keyboard with terminal etc

Is there a way of using this instead of a regular keyboard.

So I could control a small server, without regular kd and monitor

Would pref a linux based but not really at a level to be altering code yet.

Anyway does anyone have any ideas.

I'm stumped. Beyond testing it with widely available LCD controller software or serial keyboard software I think that thing would best be used as a museum piece...
