It has been an immensely great pleasure to get to correspond with you all. If my son were older, I would definitely allow him join the forum. My wife and I agree, he is still too young. I have decided to take your advice. The hard drives are on there way, the power supply is already wrapped along with the Lian-li pc71. I’ll be ordering the 2 X 512 Corsair XMS3500C2 sometime today along with the SwifTech MCX4000. I’m actually trying to find the best price for the Corsair and the SwifTech, which in itself, is a task. After careful consideration I’ve have decided, well the forum have decided, to go with the Intel chipset which will give him good overclocking ability. Yes it will be an Abit motherboard, that is if it’s out before Xmas. (Can’t thank you enough). Not sure about the 2.66GHz, 2.8GHz or the 3.06GHz, I’ll try to ask my brother for advice about them and the sound card, very discreetly of course. The ATI 9700 pro will be the card to purchase if the NV30 isn’t out before Xmas. I guess I’m done (sigh of relief) Thanks to all.

cha-ching, damn thats gonna hurt:) hahah

well as a parent also myself of a 5 and a 9 year old. i do see your point dan. the web is overrun with bad things.id never let my kids online unattended myself. that reminds me i need to get a kids browser on here.

anyhow if im not mistaken the forum is pretty much all ages here.no cursing, name calling, porn, disturbing things allowed. its all in the rules wich ive read long ago.but i just keep in mind if i cant show my mom what i wrote i cant put it here.

and the mods keep this a clean ,safe place as much as humanly possable.
i dont wanna sound like im trying yo change your mind.im not. i still think my kids are to young also to be here.im just pointing out the things skip-mods have done to make it a great learning /fun place.

once my stepson gets enough interest and starts building pc's ill point this place out to him.

That is a great system you financing for him, I'm super impressed, he sure isnt going to have trouble running anything he wants to on it. Great x-mas present!

Kudos to you for doing your homework and coming to this site! I have gotten soooo much help from the great people here. A year ago I bought my first PC, found this web-site, and have built several systems for friends and family since. this puts any pre-built system companies (gateway, dell) "free tech support" to absolute shame. You definately came to the right place.

Looks like you've gotten some really good advice so far, I think XP Pro is a great operating system, and I'm personally waiting for the New Nvidia cards to come out before I upgrade my Geforce2. The ATI cards are king right now, but the new Nvidia cards will blow them away, and should be the top dogs for some time after that. good luck and please keep us posted as to your choices and your sons progress and experiences with it.

I just re-read some of the posts about your son being too young to join the forums here, and I must say I was a little surprised. This was also the first forum I ever joined, and the only one where I ever take the advice Im given. It sounds like You are involved in your sons hobbies, which is absolutely great, but I really hope you either re-consider allowing him to join, or at least maintin an active presence here and allow him to enjoy and learn from these forums.
