help me out..my friend thinks there is a new kind of ROM

alright, hes set on the fact that there is a new kind of ROM storage coming out...i would put the conversation on here..but it wouldnt be right..lol..kinda vulgar, but explain to him what ROM is, and whatever else, cause he doesnt listen to me..thanks guys

Maybe hes kinda slow and has just discovered the DVD ROM. hehe Or else hes talkin about DVD burners... There pretty new, but i wouldnt say there 'coming out'

I wonder if he is thinking of Serial ATA? Its not rom but it is new and just starting to hit the street.
