I'm currently running an AMD T-Bird 950 on an MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU (MS-6380 Ver2.0) motherboard. My motherboard will support up to an AMD XP2100+. I plan on O/C'ing the new proc and was wondering, given the change in multipliers available through the L-gates with the 2100 (i.e. harder to unlock due to changes in the L10 gates), I was wondering if I should just go with the 2000, unlock it (since it's much easier to unlock), and get higher than that available on the 2100 (i.e. 1.733GHz) natively (or available thru O/C'ing just the bus). Also, I'm using a ThermalTake DragonOrb3 cooler.

TIA,
Ken

Go with the XP1600. It's cheaper and most likely will be able to hit 1.7-1.8GHz w/ an AGOIA or AROIA stepping.

Also go w/ a better HSF.
