P4 Xeon HSF on P4 NW - Possible?

Hey everyone,

i just picked up a stock P4 Xeon HSF (free ) today, and i'm wondering if it's possible to mount it on P4 Northwood. It's one big piece of aluminium with some copper fins, and it came with the fan and all the mounting brackets. Anyone got any ideas?

Only way to see is to try.

I don't think so but I'm not 100% sure. The Xeon is Socket 603 and the P4 Northwood is Socket 478. I haven't seen one company make a P4 Xeon heatsink since boards for them run at stock speeds so excessive cooling is not necessary.

P4 Xeon actually use P4 423pin foot print/retention and it will not work on a 478pin.
