No, it would by physicall impossable because of the design of the core...unless nVidia got their drivers to magically change the architecture of the core, hehe
 
I just picked up a Saphire 9700 pro for 237 refurb off newegg. I think they still have a few left. Though with tax it cam to about 250. But thats only 50 bucks more than a retail 9500 pro.

The 3rd party 9700 pro's arent altered in their clock and are almost exactly the same as the BB ATI ones. Just dont get the powercolor gold... its down clocked cuz they are gay like that.
 
well companies that build games go by teh lowest demoninator, so namely its ideal to make games that can be run on yesteryear's models, even if you dont have direct X 8 features, you can run games in lesser quality

The GeForceFX will be pretty expensive when it first comes out...and the top end models are the only ones that will be available for a few more months. Depending on the price of the GFFX, the price of the 9700 Pro may not drop at all.

true, but if he has the option of getting DX9 now, and more quality and more res, for not that much more money, why wouldnt he?
 
unless he always uses FSAA no need for a radeon. no games use directX9 and few games directX8. Nvidia is to Intel as ATI is to AMD
