ok im looking to upgrade my video card from a 64mb voodoo 5500 that is just crap. i wanna spend something like 100-150 bucks on this. just wondering for this price which card has the best performance. i dont really have a preference just want the best bang for my buck.

Maybe a GF4ti4200? I'm not sure about lower-end radeon prices, but you really should check out ATi Radeon 9500pro. Check out the buyer's guide on our 3dmark team's website.

Either the Ti4200, or the 9500 non-Pro would be good. If you get the non-Pro, you can try modding it to a 9700 using either the Software mod, or the Hardware mod.

i would either get the Ti4200 or the 9500 non pro, but only if you dont mind selling the 9500 on ebay if the mod doesnt work, without the 9700 mod it is easily slower than a Ti4200, you may want to save up a couple extra bucks and get a 9500Pro

He is right, but then if you ebay it, you may lose money anyway. The mod fails for most cards. Youd be better off getting the radeon8500LE, OC it to radeon9100 levels and then run whatever games you like in 1600x1200x32 :D ok maybe not doomIII :p

i have an 8500 and i can tell you, the only games it would play at 1600x1200 are QIII and UT, newer games challenge it at 1280x1024 (UT2k3), of course you could always degrade detail settings, but high detail is better.......

Radeon9100= Radeon8500 they are the same card, flashed with a different bios...they are clocked at the same speeds so i guess you mean oc to stock 8500 levels from LE? i have even tried the 9100 bios and it gave me no performance increase :(.....

a 4200 or 9500Pro would be much better

ya im probably gonna go with a ti4200 because its the cheapest and it can oc quite a bit. anyone have any advice on which brand to get to have best oc results, or are they pretty much all the same.
