true... i really don't know how cool my computer runs when its idle.. but usually on full load, i'm at 28-9°C :D

u know, learning the alt+0176 helps - try it out sometime... press alt- type 0176 on the num keypad, release alt.. to get the ° symbol :)

Cool, thanks..°

Cheapest cooling ?

Heh, depends seriously on Ambient temps.... dust isn't really an issue in this house. Air is pretty filtered...

..but just like the average.. in the 30's for case, and upper 30's, low 40's for cpu...

i just saw some of the results from your poll...........27 users with 51c or above at idle!!!! that's scary........what are they doin wrong?

idle is when u are not folding, like if u have just turned it on and nothing is going on. what is the temperature at that point? by the way, this should be stickied, newbies might find it helpful to see other temps to see if theres are ok.

w00t, my first post :D

My idle temp is reading 42 on my cpu,
47 when under load,
and 52 when using Toast.

Running XP2400+ with a slighty modded case.

80mm side case fan sucking air in.

80mm on the bottom blowing up.

Coolermaster HSF that came with my cpu.

Exhaust fan under my gfx card (Radeon 9000 pro)

Exhaust fan (came with case) opposite my cpu, taking the air blown off the cpu out the case.

Dual fan PSU exhausting any remaining hot air at the top of case.

I'm quite content with the set-up, not overclocking or anything as yet (still n00b) but hopefully with the help of this site, that can all change. ;)

I want to get a new HSF (mebbe Volcano 9) and use some of my brother's AS3 (currently using the retail, urgh, thermal strip)

now i have sisiters amd config , and that comp is pretty hot
load 56
idle 48
water cooled

where is my nice and cold p4 now :(

Was 38c idle 45c load @ 2309mhz on air (slk800)
is now 28c idle 35c load @ 2375mhz on mostly homemade water.

update; now @ 2398mhz the temps are still the same, but i've been putting cooler packs in my resevior & i can maintane 26c idle
30c load. i cant wait till my chiller is done!!!!!!!!

What is this idle you speak of? I know not of this idle.

I'm running a 2.53b @ 2965 Mhz with the stock HSF.... hahaha.... I get solar flare temps....
62° C full load (Running SETI, but I had to shut down 3 days ago due to a power failure)
44° C idle for an hour, tested a long time ago
