ASAP: movie editing programs for windows???

here's the deal....i would like to take some movie trailers i download and piece sections of them together, except i don't know any programs that will do this?? are there any free programs out there i can use to do this???

yea virtual dub should do the trick. I've used it a couple times to recompress some avi's. Its not hard to work with but ive never spliced up any video files. I use Premiere for that
