Just got my AMD Athlon 2400+

I made the mistake of buying thermal paste from an electronics store once. It looked mre like oil and slush when it came out. Evil stuff. Definately a proplem. Loose it.

i use mbm5 but one of the sensors jumps around(cpu one) and the other one doesnt(motherboardtemp). I know which one is which because of software sandra.

Maybe something wrong with the sensor.
I had that once, i RMA'd the mobo and got a new one.

I just retired my 2400+ and put it off as a Back-up CPU.

It wouldn't OC very well. Tops was 2.3 .... OK for some people, but I'm more aggressive and like components who are likewise.

I just replaced it with .... a 1700+ (1.47) JIUHB DLT3C.

My first Benchmarking reached at 2.3ghz in the first 2 hours session starting yesterday .... smooth and stable.

With a little patience, I have no doubt this will reach 2.5 on AIR.

I'm holding off with the TEC and water block ... til later.
