Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards
  1. No beep at all - this means your motherboard is dead, either due to a defective or underpowered power supply, poorly seated CPU or RAM, or a dead-on-arrival board
  2. One beep - board is working fine
  3. One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU
  4. 1 short(Beep) System booting is normally
  5. 2 short(Beep) CMOS setting error
  6. 1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
  7. 1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
  8. 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
  9. 1 long - 9 short(Beep) ROM Error
  10. Long(Beep) continuous DRAM isn't inserted correctly
  11. Short(Beep) continuous POWER supply has a problem
  12. A two-tone siren, generally caused by overheating or out of specification voltages
  13. Four beeps then machine shuts down. This is because this version of the BIOS will shut down your machine if no fan tachometer signal is detected on the fan header. Make sure you attach a fan to the FAN1 or FAN4 header or clear CMOS to reset to default (no checking).

Thanks to Paul Howland for providing the information

I'm happy that it has helped you. Do you guys need a BIOS List for the NF7 - S boards? Just let me know which BIOS rev to base it on.

hmm, i think i have one not listed. one long beep, 2 SHORT beeps, then 2 low key tones....anyone know what that is?
Abit KV7

Got same problem here!!!

And I changed 2 VGA cards... and always the same...
When there is NO VGA card I got same beeps!!!

Strange!!!

I tried with GF4200 and R9100!!

my card seems to be finicky about the orientation when inserted in slot, shutting down and lightly touching the gpu heatsink or the card then restarting would resolve this.

Hey, sorry to thread crap! ;)

This list has saved me suffering and misery countless times now, this time at three in the mornign, right when I *need* my computer to work. What a great aid to finding the problem :)

Thanks.

cant figure out whats wrong i did a reboot one day and it never went back on those beeps drive me crazy any help would be nice :)

quick question . has anyone tried starting a abit board with proc in but the cooling not on?. will the alarm go off right away?
is it thatresponsive. i did it just to see what would happen ( dont comment please i already know ) and within 1 second i got the 2 tone siren

i have a beep 2 seconds long and every 3 seconds continuesly, i upgraded my graphics card worked fine for a day and a half but when i rebooted this morning i got this beep sequence and the monitors stay blank, i tried 3 different cards including my ati all-in-wonder 9600xt tv displays "snow" (static)

keep in mind, no beep at all might mean you didnt connect the speaker header correctly. :p

...or that your BIOS chip is corrupted. That's what happened to me (for the NF7-S that is).

Hey Ludovico, your sig says 12.5x200 (2535mhz). Uhm, that doesn't make sense... fix it? :p

Probably RAM related.
