Use Cat. series drivers on a ATI Rage Pro?

I just bought a Rage Pro from a bro in the classifieds for a work comp I'm building for a friend of mine. The Rage Pro is an old card and if I remeber right it was made before the Catalyst series of ATI drivers. my question is...can I use the Catalyst drivers on it? I wan to give the card as much help as possible (it will need it) I looked on the ATI website and they recommend the Windows XP driver from the Windows install CD (yes the OS will be XP) that sounds kinda lame to me. A generic vid card driver???? thats it??
Hmmmmmmm.....what do you guys think?

use the "alternate driver" right under the recommended one. The fact is that Ati's dreiver support was **** before the Radeon's came out.
