what'z a dvd decoder card for?

have one Sigma Designs REALmagic Hollywood+ DVD Decoding Card, and don't know what to do with this sucker...someone gives to me.
 
Yeah, when DVD drives first started appearing on computers the processors didn't have enough horsepower for software decoding.

That's not a problem today, of course. But depending on what resolution you're playing back at you still might be able to see an improvement in picture quality through a hardware card. The Sigma Hollywood+ was the best card on the market. If it was free I'd play around with it.
