that's right, multiplier has no effect on memory.

remember that when you see a rating such as 3000+ for a cooler, what they mean is that it is rated up to a Barton 3000+, running at default speed and default voltage of 1.65v. That's why I said 72w - default heat output of a Barton 3000+.

What you have in terms of speed is a 3000+, but from a heat output point of view, your 2500+ overclocked has a lot more heat than the 3000+.

For example, 2150Mhz with 1.75v was 90w.

For the time being, just run it a little slower if it means you can cut down on the voltage, and save it till you have better cooling. (better fan or HSF)
