Now I know I have seen this question somewhere, here perhaps, but i've searched for about a week without finding it again. So here I go...

I'm swapping out my motherboard (again) and don't want to reinstall the O/S. I know there is some file in Win98 to delete so that next boot will be like the first boot. However! I have forgotten the name of this file. :)

If somebody could be so kind as to post a name, I would be very grateful. :D

Thanks alot.

try unistalling the previous motherboard drivers (chipset updates, video cards, sound card drivers), remove devices from the device manager (but don't delete hard drive controllers). then reboot. Your OS will start detecting the new hardware.

After that you can install your new drivers.

Quite tricky though.
