I recently fried my old processor, which was an amd 1800+ running in a MSI KT3Ultra2. Now i need a new processor, but I dont want to purchase the same 1800+ something similar, i was looking more at the faster ones, like the 2500 or the 2700.

Now, the 2700 is about 2ghz, yet my motherboard only supports up to 1.8 Ghz (athlon xp 2200+)

Will it work if i just reduce the FSB until its running slower than 1.8ghz ?

Basically im going to buy a fast proc and later on when i have more money upgrade the mobo, but for now, i need a new proc to replace the one thats fried.

first check to see f there is an update for your motherbaod bios, it may supprt it now,, if not you may have a problem trying to underclock it if it wont even post..

Awesome, theres an update for it which will now support up to 3000+ 333 FSB
