Old laptop LCD modding Q

K, got my buddies old....well huge friggin old laptop...was like a p60 or something. anyway the LCD is good but the mobo is fried. I was wonderin if I took off the monitor, there should be a gaggle of wires leading to the LCD from the mainboard. If I cut open a VGA cable and matched the wires (long process I know) would it work?

It might, but I doubt it. Most LCD's on laptops have specialized controllers on the motherboard. If you find out what the display panel is, you might be able to find a controller for it on the internet.
