I accidentaly got a PentiumIII 800EB (strange huh?) but with a crappy motherboard...
Now I want to buy a motherboard for this CPU that supports high overclocking...
What do you suggest?
What cooling do I need - I just have this metal thing (but not a fan)

First of all, the EB cpu isn't the best overclocker in the world, as it doesn't have enough headroom to oc. However, you have a nice chance of getting 933+ MHz out of it.

You need a better heatsink than the oem. The bigger the better, look into Alpha or Global win just to mention a few. You MUST have a fan attached to it! You also need to use thermal grease (just apply a paper-thin layer to the cpu core with a razor blade).

As for the motherboard, Abit and Asus make some nice oc boards. I would recommend:

Abit SE6
Asus CUSL2
or perhaps the CUV4X

but there are other nice boards out there. Good luck! :)

what's a thermal grease?
if it is a glow will it be like this:?

C P U
--------
grease
--------
big heatsink
-------
fan

Yep thats the general layout. Right thermal grease is a heat conductive transfer material. Basically the higher the conductivity of the material the better heat transfer you'll get between your CPD core and the heatsink, giving a better tempurature (Tempurature is vital for o/c... The lower the better). A good thermal grease/compound is artic silver or artic silver 2. Available from
www.arcticsilver.com.

PIII 450 @ 558 (124Mhz 1/4 FSB/PCI)
ABIT BE6 Mobo
Generic 450-750 heatsink and fan
256MB 133Mhz SDRAM
2.1GB SeaGate ATA 33 :(
8.4GB SeaGate ATA 33 :(
Creative GeForce 2GTS (With attached blue orb :))
Creative AWE 64

Hey, you ask for advice - and we give the best we have. Thats how it works.

How about buying one cheaper from a website in another country?
