more volts = more unstable, very odd.

fist I will say what I have, then what is happening.

Motherboard an Abit BF6 (long live the BX board)
633 cBo watercooled to 1062 MHz running at 2.0volts
temps are great, over 30 never happens, ideals around 20-22C

if I try 2.05 Volts, the computer is no longer stable. When I boot into windows, I get the startup sound, then before the sound is done playing, it turns into a high pitch buzz. This higher voltage requires me to drop the speed down to 1026. Try 2.1 same problem... hell I tried 2.3 still got the same problem.

So I think that my core is at its limit...
the little extra voltage make my cpu to rise in temp a degree or so...
this is what must be causing my CPU to not like the higher voltage

its 38.4 watts when running at 1062 @ 2.0 V
40.4 watts when running at 1062 @ 2.05V
39.0 watts when running at 1026 @ 2.05V

So, I think the cpu doesn't want to be using more than 40 watts or power.
But it will not do 1074 (113 FSB) @ 2.0 V , 38.9watts.

I may have pushed the CPU as far as it will go.....
but I will be damned if this little old celeron 2 doesn't hit 1100 (116 FSB)

I still have one trick up my sleeve.
Some K6-2's were able to overclock higher is the heatsink was grounded.
This is because of EMF (electromagnetic field's) messing up the clock signal.
So grounding my waterblock may help me get that last 40 Mhz I want out of my celeron.

I keep you all updated on this.
Also, and other ideas, thoughts on the subject ?
every comment/ insight is welcome thanks.

just because you can run quake 3 doesn't mean your stable......
back to 1028.....
dont know yet if grounding my waterblock worked....
have to play with it for a while

Nice overclock hope you get what your after, When I upped my CV to 2.05 I only had a small gain and when i raised it higher [CV] it did not help at all quite like yours but I run Seti 24\7 and after a month i tried to go a little higher and I was quite supprised when it took so know i'm running at 171FSB and i was at 168 before i burned this CPU in for the second time, this may not work for you but it sure wont hurt, Run your PC where its completly stable run any of your favorite burn in programs for a long while and maybe you'll get lucky.

Without going into a long explanation, there is a point that the chip gets to much voltage and you actually lose overclockability,,,youve probaly hit your limit, if your lucky some tweaks will get you higher, but either way youve done a very nice overclock

Sounds like a ringback problem. You have found the limits of that CPU. Lower the Vcore and FSB to their previous highest stable setting and suffer like the rest of us poor souls...:D

no, I am sorry, I will not accept this chip at this speed....
got a peltier....... just need a PSU for it, think I may TRY to make one...
like I said, this chip will do 1100 :)

but really, its tough to think this chip is at its max...
I have more volts to offer the chip, but it doesn't want to take them, not fair , not fair....
it posted at 1140 :) but locked up right away.
looks like 108 or 109 FSB will have to do (for now)
as you haven't seen the end of me and this celeron.
