Guess its a bit of a old bump, but I'd like to possibly add on to this guide. I've come up with a fancy name for it and its worked well for me so far.
Ambient Assisted Air, or AAA.
It is the use of some sort of air cooling, in a low ambient environment, such as outdoors on a cold night, or using something to cool the heatsink down, like the upside-down canned air trick.
It used to be called "Ghetto air", but this sounds more nerdy, I guess.
