Do you recomend the new NF7's?

^^ They are *ALL* 2.0. But we call them 2.4 and so on to show what has been changed.

The NF7 has been around sooo long that its not the same mobo anymore. Thats why we added 2.x

Do the NF7's follow this same model-change trend as the NF7-S's?

Probably gonna pick up an NF7 tomorrow ... like to get a fairly decently, but I guess it's just a crap shoot.

It is just a crap shoot. I'll see what my RMA'd board is like once I get it tomorrow. Other one had a faulty NIC on it. I suppose in a year non of this will matter as I shall have a new system anyway. But it is fun in the mean time. I think Sen just finally got a great one after having a bunch of poor NF7s. Hell, I guess I can't complain if I can get it stable and running smoothly. That is all it is supposed to do anyway.

Thanks Sent! Also, don't you get a rather large performance hit by turning cpc off. Enough that the extra fsb could not make up for? I am talking about in games and such, not sandra mem.

I think the D24 DFI ED TABLE rev.3 takes you high fsb as the CPC off versions. (I actually didn't get any good experiences with CPC off bioses). Plus, I would wait now as there are so many different versions of them, hope tictac and trats can put together two different projects they're working on.

NF7-S has the NVIDIA soundstorm tech and SATA controller
NF7-M has integrated graphics, (GeForce4 MX I believe). I doubt anyone would need integrated graphics, so go with NF7-S, sound is good too.
OR get NF7 like me, without any extra stuff on the board.
They overclock all the same though.

thanks OC

the promise of raid and the nvidia soundstorm are making me lean toward the
"S". right now im stuck using a k7t limited turbo with a barton 2500
needless to say thats not going well...im going to get the "S" on friday cuz my x800 is supposed to b arriving on saturday...thats going to be fun modding it to a XT!!!!!

Definitely go with the -S; the -M sucks goat. Because it has the IGP northbridge, it can't hit 200fsb if you rape it in all orifices. I've built 2 systems with the -M for people on really tight budgets and with no gaming needs, each with a Barton 2500+ (multi-locked) and none of them hit 200fsb stably. I even swapped in my 2500+ (unlocked) which does 233x10 easy, let alone 200x11, and it wasn't stable.

was that using the onboard video though?

because you can't do 200 and use the video, it even says so in the manual says max is 166 for ram 1:1.

i can't vouch how far they will go with it disabled though, so i would recommend the -s or just the nf7, do you need sata or not is the question?

Agree completely. The last revision of the NF7-M is v1.2, which is not 'certified' for 200mhz operation. Furthermore, the NF7 revisions below v2.0 had difficulties going above 200-205mhz FSB, and with the v2.0, many people are hitting 250mhz + without many difficulties. I would stay far away from the NF7-M, unless you truely need onboard video for whatever reason.

many people are hitting 250 +???

you got to be joking, do you know how rare it is for these boards to hit 250+ fsb?

i can count the ones i've seen that can do that on my hands.....

i would say 215 - 225 is the typical range.

oc613 check out sen's page on his 2400 35w mobile using the nf7s rev2. they have a 250 fsb club and more and more people are hitting high fsb with mods and so forth. i'm about to join them too after i solder my mobo
