SBC questions

Hey guys,

I would like to make a sbc and have a couple of questions. I know that it prob. matters board to board but going to try anyways. I am linking to a board that is something like what I would like to use.



Now, can this board be used alone or does it have to be plugged into a backplain of something like that?

How are these boards usually powered?

Oh ya, My local shop has a dual P3 board for sale (but don't know anything about it, nor do I.) What cpus does it take. Are there SMP P3's?

SMP P3s are Xeons. You may be able to run matched PIIIs in dual but I am not sure. I havent tryed.

I think that thing in the pic does go into something like a back plane. Sorry I dont know much about them, I am curious how they work. Are they kinda like blades?
