I have a laptop running media center edition xp. I travel for work sometimes and was looking for some info about software. See I already know how to rip or copy dvds and all that stuff but i was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would allow one of my home dvd's to be ripped to the harddrive, but so that i can watch it from the harddrive. Basically leaving all my discs at home when i am on the road. I don't like the idea of traveling with discs that can get lost stolen or scratched.

thanks for any info.

For this, I would suggest using TMPGENC to rip it to an AVI or MPG file and/or DIVX. You'll get less quality but much less HD space taken up with DIVX.
