BFG 6800 Ultra OC: 430 Watt Powersupply???

    Howdy y'all,

I have a BFG 6800 Ultra OC and my power supply is a 430 Watt ps that came in my ThermalTake case (I think it's a Pure Power or something).

Anywho, the BFG 6800 Ultra box states "Minimum 480 Watt Power Supply".

Question 1: Will it hurt the card to run on a 430 Watt PS? It seems to be working fine, no problems in Doom3.

Question 2: If I get a new PS, what brand / model should I get? I don't want to shell out money for a POS PS :-p

    Thanks,

    Mike

ur psu should be fine, if you were to get a new one anyway i'd suggest OCZ, PPC, forton/sparkle, tagan

really depends on total system you're using and amp rating on 5v and 12v rails i.e. my system will use 390-506W with 6800U http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.p...23#post3023723

OCZ 420 Watt would even work fine for it, that rating is probably to cover PSU's with exagerated ratings.

Yeah, the OCZ 420w has 30A on the 12v...that's crazy for a 420, mine has 18A...I'm also getting a 6800GT, should I upgrade my psu?
