I use Mcafee. I don't ever get viruses and I work and surf on this thing all day. I have used Norton and I did not like it at all. It seems like it wraps around everything. GO AWAY NORTON!!!!

Norton for me.

I'd also like to add that Viruses aren't really a problem for me as much as Spyware. It seems like it took forever for the Joe Sixpacks to realize that Viruses were bad and you need protection for it, but that is an era past. Now spyware is the real problem and really the line between a virus and spyware is getting thinner and thinner. I wish microsoft would include in their operating system a program that automaticly searches for viruses and spyware/malware and worms, etc, that way we don't have to waste time with it!

I haven't used an antivirus program for nearly two years, and I leave my computers running for days at a time hooked up to a DSL connection. I run the housecall program from trend micro every so often, and I can't remember the last time it found any problems.

never tried norton

used mcaffee and found it to be quite bloated. way too much crap for a virus scanner. also, if memory serves, they seem to want you to buy some update or another every six months or so.

used pc-cillin for a while...REALLY liked the version I had at the time (2001 maybe?). It came free with an asus motherboard. when I accidently dropped a lit cigarette on the CD, (DOH!) I discovered AVG.

I've got AVG on both of the rigs in my sig. I recently bought a laptop, which came with a virus scanner installed...I quickly got rid of it and downloaded AVG for the lappy, too.

It's small, unobtrusive, frequently updated. Easy to use UI. Not packed with crappy bloat. Even if AVG weren't free, it would be worth buying.

I don't even get viruses (note spelling) anymore. I do still get plenty of emails at work that contain viruses. Maybe you guys should cut down on the porn.

I've used AVG and Norton. Norton seems bloated and slows my pc down but has done a good job at protectinig my system so far. AVG is my favorite free AV and works well also.

Norton, because I have never had a virus in years with it.

Even though Norton hasn't found one, another may still be there. I've been using Norton ever since I built my current rig (about 10 months) and it found a virus once or twice...then I got AVG and it found about 9 that Norton did not. Plus AVG runs faster. Now I use both in conjunction.

I don't use anti-virus software on any pc I have here....and have never had a prob....the true way to avoid a virsus is intelligent use of the pc........in my opinion anyways, and I've been doing it that way for ages...never had a virus

You're not the first to make this comment, but if you don't use a scanner, how can you be sure you don't have a virus? I agree though the best way to avoid them is to be smart. I get the very rarely, but its nice to know its there. Like when I first got AVG, it found 9, but it hasn't found anything since :-/

Depends how you use your PC... If you interface with the public, or people in official offices (government, academic, institutional), its collosally irresponsible to run without any virus scanning.

Didn't see Kaspersky mentioned once. Hands down, best anti-virus software I have come across. I have seen Norton run & not detect viruses on more then one occasion, so I steer clear of that. I use AVG on my backup PC (when it's running). Mcafee........haven't used that in years, probably never will.

Kaspersky on server systems (best AV period as rated by av-comparatives.org - 99.86% detection rate)

NOD32 on workstation & laptop systems (95.51% detection rate, better than Norton, AVG, AVAST, E-Trust & BitDefender).

Norton Antivirus & a proprietary Norton firewall on my Symantec Gateway Security network security applicance (no choice).

Virus free for 4 years running.

at the moment panda are givin away 1 years free subsriction to live updates, so im usin dat, it gets bout 80 new virus definitions every day !!

I use F-Secure. It comes free with Charter's 3M Services. Good deal, plus Charter will support it. Helpful if you need to call tech support, because Norton (and I think McAfee) charges for support.
