Is my Raptor working right?

It doesn't seem/feel as fast as I thought it would be. My windows install (fresh) took about 30 minutes. My boot times from press of the button is about 45 seconds (20 from the windows icon to desktop). I still have lag and delays when browsing through folders and files. I am coming from an Apple Powerbook, not sure if that has me expecting more from it or what. IS there any settings, tests, or options I can check to make sure it's working like it should?

You want to get a disk diagnostic program of some sort to check it is working properly and using DMA, and also you might want to benchmark it.

What do you recommend to do that?
