I would say don't get that 9800XT for 289. Either get a 9800pro for around 180 or a 6800 NU for about 280 which is superior to the 9800xt. Other than that, it looks like a nice setup.

I cant see myself spending $300 on 1gb of ram. You would get more performance buying 2gb of slower ram. Timings do help a few %, but more ram is always > than less ram. Also, get a SATA hard drive, and get a fortron power supply instead of the enermax. I currently have a 10y/o fortron 250w powering a barton [email protected] with all the rails within .05v. Fortron = better.

The last thing I would suggest is the monitor. If you dont mind a refurb, www.azatek.com has 21" monitors (2048x1536@75hz) for $300.

For one, thats not actual PC3200 ram that your comparing. The OCZ plat it actually a DDR500 (at least), that is rated at 3200 for the lowest timings. It will OC nicely up to probably 275.

Power supply, yes id change that enermax. If your going to be spending over 110$ on it, then go w/ the PCP&C 470 for $100. If you want to drop down to 80$, go w/ a Fortron 530. Even lower? Get a Tt 480 for 55$.

I think you can get a great deal on a Viewsonic 19" monitor. Probably around 200$ or so.

The new 90nm AMD 64s are out now - may be worth look at these, the 3000+ OCs to 2.4GHz+ The ram is sweet and will allow to OC the CPU. And yeah 6800 over 9800XT, maybe even 6600 or 6200 to save money and still perfect better. Also get 2 x $100 sata drives.

yeah forgot to add that i just bought a WD Raptor 74gb 10krpm SATA Hard Drive
