all drives can run in a RAID setup. Depends on the RAID level you want, that will determine how many drives you need.

Best to stick with the same model drive, revision as well, to make sure that they don't have any differences to minimize any potential timing issues.
 
I have two identical 40gb hard drives set up in RAID but how do I connect them to the ATA cable to make them function in RAID0 setup?
 
one as master, one as slave.

you'll then need to enter the RAID Controller bios to set them up.

motherboard manual should have the steps to do this.
 
I have it set up like that but the computer still tells me I dont have any device plugged in thats RAID compatible.
